Buhari appoints Acting President of the Appeal Court

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal (PCA) with effect from June 3, 2020, for a further period of three (3) months.

This was made known to the general public by the spokesman and Senior Special Adviser to the Buhari on Media & Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu.

In a series of tweet, Mr Shehu, stated that the appointment of the Acting President of the Court of Appeal is in pursuant to Section 238(4) and (5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

Recall that in March, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, swore in Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal following the retirement of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa as she clocked the statutory mandatory retirement age of 70 years as Justice of Appeal Court.

According to Mr. Shehu, the appointment is for another three month period which will take effect from June 3rd.
