High Court dismissed the case by SERAP against Lai Mohammed and NBC as ‘mere academic exercise’

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, November 27 struck out the case filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The rights group had a few weeks ago approached the Court to stop the N9 million fine imposed on some media stations for coverage on the #EndSARS movement.

The High Court in its ruling noted that SERAP has no “locus standi” in the case as it’s not a part of the matter.

The judge equally dismissed the case as “a mere academic exercise.”
