Worgu Boms has been sworn in as APC deputy national secretary. The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress APC today, June 22, swore the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers state, Mr Worgu Boms to replace the suspended Deputy National Secretary of the party, Victor Giadom.

On Saturday, the vice-chairman of the APC (south-south), Hilliard Eta, in a statement said that Mr Worgu Boms had been recommended by the party in Rivers to replace Victor Giadom who resigned in 2019 to run with Tonye Cole in the Rivers State governorship election.

“You are aware that on Friday, a competent court of jurisdiction declared Chief Victor Giadom as not being a member of the National Working Committee NWC and should never parade himself as such,” he said.

“His name has been transmitted to my good office and I want to announce that in the earliest time possible, the south-south zonal executive committee will meet and ratify that name and send same to the National Working Committee of our great party.”

Moreover, APC north-east vice-chairman, Salihu Mustapha, asserted that Giadom did not resign his position to contest the election but that Adams Oshiomhole, suspended APC national chairman, gave him (Giadom) a waiver in September 2018 which enabled him to run with Tonye Cole in Rivers governorship.

“Just like Giadom, chief Moghalu came back as national auditor when he lost the primary election of the party in Anambra state,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Over the weekend, APC members in Rivers state announced Giadom’s suspension. Giadom is however still insisting he is the acting chairman of the APC.
