The World Trade Organization, WTO has screened out three candidates in the race for Director-General.
This was disclosed in a Tweet on the official handle of the WTO (@wto) on Friday September 18 announcing that the five “candidates will be moving on for members’ further consideration in the next round of consultations, which resume on 24 September.”
However, Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was not screened out of the race.
The candidates that were screened out are; Mexico’s Jesus Seade, Egypt’s Hamid Mamdouh, and Moldova’s Tudor Ulianovschi.
The candidates still in the race are; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of Nigeria, Yoo Myung-hee of the Republic of Korea, Amina C. Mohamed of Kenya, Mohammad Maziad Al-Tuwaijri of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Liam Fox of the United Kingdom.
